Before you can see this feature, your computer must meet the following criteria:
Your computer meets the minimum configuration requirement (or close to it).
You have Google Earth Installed and working.
Your computer supports or is compatible with .ZIP compressed files (native for Win XP/Vista)(Otherwise you need to install a program like WinZIP.)
You must dowload and extract the building model from within the 'pacific_gardens.zip' file available from the Pacific Gardens home page.
You must have Google Earth installed on you computer and your computer must meet or exceed the system requirements before installing Google Earth on your machine.
For Windows systems, Google says Windows 2000 or later and Pentium 3 CPU at 500Mhz (However, I'm running it on a Celeron M processor, but at 1.5Ghz - less Ghz simply means slower operation.) Versions of Google Earth are available for MAC and Linux.
For detailed system requirements consult the Google Earth download page at <http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html>
There are numerous free ZIP utilities available from the Internet. If you cannot find a utility to decompress ZIP files, first obtain assistance from friends and collegues, then contact Pacific Gardens.
1) Either, left-click (1st finger mouse button) the link and then click 'Save'; or right-click (3rd finger mouse button) the link and choose 'Save Target As'. Choose a TEMPORARY place to save the file on your harddisk and click Save.
2) When download is complete, click the 'Open' button (provided that you have unchecked the box beside "Close this dialog box when download completes" during the download.)
If you missed unchecking the check box or have closed the dialog box, use The "My Computer" link on the desktop or Windows Explorer to navigate to the location on you harddisk to which you downloaded the file. Double click the 'pacific_gardens.zip' file.
3) Although you can see the .kmz file here, it will not work if you launch it from here. You must extract all the files from the compressed ZIP file to another location.
From the File menu, choose 'Extract All', then click 'Next'.
You may accept the default directory to place the files in, or use the 'Browse' button to choose a different location or directory name. Click 'Next' when directory is chosen.
Check the checkbox next to "Show extracted files" and press 'Finish' button.
4) Now, Open the doc.kmz file or double click it to launch and sit back, watch ... and play around.
Google Earth should automatically start itself and zoom right to the location of Pacific Gardens. Zoom in further as desired. Refer to Google Earth Help menu for assistance in using and navigating within the Google Earth virtual environment.
File cleanup:
This process has cluttered your disk drive (just a bit) and opened multiple windows. You now have two windows showing the same files in two places. To delete the unnecessary file, switch to the window which has 'pacific_gardens.zip' in the title bar; click the Up button to go up one directory level and delete the 'pacific_gardens.zip' file (as you have already extracted the files you don't need the .zip anymore.); you can now also close the current window (Alt-F4).
